Hey everyone,
I am wishing everyone a happy and healthy London Pride this Saturday pride.prideinlondon.org/pride/main
prideinlondon-main.webflow.io/library-event-categories/social-and-friends
Looking forwards to meeting our wonderful volunteers and team. Things I am certainly carrying with me on the day:
at least 2 bottles of water
some snacks
a spare tee shirt www.lgbthero.org.uk/100me
my baseball cap
my sunglasses
sun cream
hope and lots of deep breathes
and lots of love and acceptance for people who are unable to attend and all the people there.
Some top tips:
1. Get an early start
Pride is basically gay Christmas and the gayest day of the year, so make the most of it. Don’t worry about sleep, get out there and have fun.
2. Don’t peak too soon
If you start out doing vodka shots and Jagerbombs before breakfast, chances are you’re going be passed out (or in A&E) by lunchtime. Remember Pride is a marathon, not a sprint.
3. Drink lots of water
Being out in the sun, drinking alcohol (or even taking recreational drugs if you choose to do them) can lead to one thing – dehydration. It’s one of the main reasons people end up in the medic tent on Pride day, make sure you drink plenty of water throughout the day.
4. Don’t forget to eat
Some say “eating is cheating” but for Pride it’s vital to break that rule. Eating can give you the extra energy to last the distance and also help soak up some of the alcohol you’ve consumed.
5. Rub on some sun block
Even if it’s cloudy, you can still get a nasty sunburn if you are outside all day. And a bright red face isn’t a good look for post Pride parties. Put some SPF 15 on before you leave the house and bring some with you so you can top it up later.
Wishing everyone a peaceful day; stay safe.
Best wishes
