www.lgbthero.org.uk/smoking-and-your-health certainly got my atttention! I'd love to talk about it. It's well known that smoking prevalence amongst us is much higher that our straight sisters and brothers. That's very visible in the lesbian Meet-Up that my wife and I go to. Better than half of us lesbians that attend are smokers. The Meet-Up arranger, also a smoker, is very careful to select meeting places where we smokers are well accomodated. I have yet to find a causal connection between being a smoker and being lesbian or gay. I became a smoker at 12, but I didn't have my coming out until I was 45. My wife became a smoker and had her coming out at the same time, around 15. Her sister (my sister-in-law) didn't need to have a coming out, she was an open lesbian since early childhood, and she also became a smoker at 15. Lesbian Greetings, Laurette

Yeah I agree the prevalence is reported much higher amongst LGBTQ+ people. Whenever I go out in the UK, whether it a queer space or not - people seem to be vaping more than smoking. I used to smoke on and off and now it is a very cheeky cigarette here and there!

I was very enthusiastic about vaping when it was first introduced. An E-cig is certainly no substitute for a real cig, but at the time, anyplace I was where I couldn't smoke, I could vape. This soon changed, to vaping being just as regulated as smoking, so I figured, what's the point! Instead of vaping, I'll drag on a nicotine inhaler when I'm in places where I can't smoke.
