hello i'm lisa i'm new to this i just came out today that i'm transgender MtF to a friend today and would love help and advise from everyone and anyone so i'll share some info about my self. xx
I'm 27 years old and I want to start my transition from male to female but i'm scared to tell my family,work and even more my girlfriend and kid's that I'm transgender but iv always been putting it off since I was 13-15 as i started working from 16 full time and it always there that i was transgender i just kept putting it in the back of my mind so i didn't hurt the people that loved me and if did come out and told people and family i would be letting every one down if i came out and told them that i was transgender even now i still keeping it in its hurting me not telling them but i don't want to let my family and my own little family down by coming out and telling them i'm transgender. xx

Hi Lisa, Welcome to the Outlife Forums. Thank you for sharing some of your story and so pleased you have felt able to come out to a friend today! That's a great step to take. I understand how you are in a predicament of being partnered with someone with whom you have children. I am a gay man and found myself in such a position one time - I was married with 3 children - it was very hard time and I couldn't see my way through. But it did work out well in the end with a lot of help! I am concerned that you don't allow your anxiety to get the better of you and that you seek help immediately if you need it. This is all about you for the moment. I would definitely recommend phoning the Switchboard 0300 330 0630 and chatting with the folk there. Or you can email or web chat. More details available on the website:- switchboard.lgbtThey have a lot of experience talking with all spectrum of folk in the LBGTQ+ community and have many resources. They are based in London but will talk to anyone from around the UK. I hope others with personal trans experience can chip in and chat with you. Hello Lisa, Thank you so much for your post and welcome. It's amazing that you've decided to come out to someone! You don't have to do this at any pace you're not comfortable with. I'm not trans, but as a cis gay man, I also had to take the time to tell family members and friends about my sexuality when I thought the time was right. It's always tough at first, but part of getting to the place you want to be is finding the appropriate networks of support and moving at your own speed. Things did get better for me, and I'm sure they can for you too, whatever you decide. Below I'm going to link to some resources that you may find helpful:
Coming out guides - Stonewall has a short guide for adults on its website, this includes advice about friends, family, and work. LGBT.ie has a much more comprehensive guide you can find here, which is filled with super helpful considerations and advice that you might find useful. Helplines - The National Trans 24h helpline can be contacted on 07527 524034 or via whatsapp on the same number. You might find it helpful to talk to someone who is also trans to discuss your thoughts and feelings. You can also call Switchboard, the LGBTQ+ helpline, from 10am-10pm, any day, on 0300 330 0630. Switchboard is an amazing service, and also runs webchat here, or email via chris@switchboard.lgbt. Support groups / charities - There are LGBTQ+ charities, such as London Friend and LGBT Foundation in Manchester which run drop ins for LGBTQ+ people where you might be able to access support. You don't mention where you live, but it might be a good idea to see what organisations are nearby where you might be able to receiveface to face support, as lockdown begins to ease.
