Can someone explain?

As I read what I’ve written below, I felt I need to introduce an introductory paragraph. Nothing that I say below is a criticism of anyone’s actions, beliefs or Identity. It comes from a genuine attempt to understand. I apologise in advance if any of the examples that I have given are considered disrespectful. That is not intended. Any stereotypes that I have used in my examples are those found in society and I make no value judgement.
I identify as a cisgender heterosexual male, which may pose the question of why I’m posting here. The reason is this, when I say “identify” is because I really don’t. I accept the fact that I’m male because that is the label that was attached to me when I was born. I accept the fact that people with my type of genitals are given that label and when required I have used it. However, I don’t actually identify as male in any way. There is nothing in my actions, personality, hopes or desires that makes me specifically male. Any aspect of who I am could apply equally to a woman as it does to me.
I like football, I drink beer, I’m sexually attracted to women. None of that makes me feel like a man as all could equally apply to a woman. When people say that that they identify with a particular gender I just don’t understand what it is that they are feeling.
I believe in gender equality. There are no choices, rights and opportunities that should be offered to one person and denied to another on the basis of their gender. If a man wants to wear dresses and makeup, that’s fine by me. If a woman wants to be a lawyer, drive a truck or play football, that’s all fine too. What I don’t understand is how any of these things actually can cause someone to identify with a particular gender. If someone is biologically male. I can’t understand how they can say “I like to wear makeup and dresses which makes me feel female”. Why isn’t he just a guy who likes to wear dresses. What is he feeling when he feels female?
I have a friend who describes themself as “genderfluid” Yesterday they posted on social media “some days I feel so girly, I just want to put on a summer dress. Other days I just want to put on my binder and my docs”. I get the fact that people differ in mood day to day and want to do different things, but I don’t get that wanting to wear a dress represents feminine and the docs and binder represents masculine.
I don’t believe in gender stereotypes. I feel that anyone of any gender can do whatever they want. I’m coming to the conclusion though that in order to have gender identity you have to first except gender stereotypes. You can only identify with a gender if you have accepted that there are certain things that apply to that gender that don’t apply to other genders.
We live in a society that is obsessed with labels. I feel that it is best to reject that, rather than buying into it and just looking for alternate labels.
Would love to hear other views.
Thanks
