hey folks,
im trying to find couples costume ideas for my partner and i but everything is veryy heteronormative!! on top of that they are suuper gendered in the most toxic and stereotypical way. im transmasculine nonbinary and my partner is a cis man. obviously couples costumes arent made for gay people in mind, and they're DEFINITELY not made for trans people in mind either.
i guess im looking for advice and suggestions? last year we were bert and ernie from sesame street. any ideas? does anybody else struggle with this every time october rolls around?

I think you have found a problem that a lot of us come up against. Costumes, cards, hetronormativity is everywhere! I love your creativity with Bert and Earnie. The way I personally do costumes is what I am into at the time, and who cares what gender it is suposed to be for. If you want costumes of the correct gender you could look at lists of LGBT films and TV shows. In the end it's should be whatever makes you comfortable and whatever you enjoy. I LOVE dressing up, we don't get to do it enough. So have fun. Looking at THIS list Santa and an Elf is excellent. All the best Avo
