Hi, I am new to this forum and a friend suggested I look for a forum to talk about this. I have just recently come out of an 11 year heterosexual relationship and finally started to acknowledge my curiousity and fantasies about a same sex relationship. I am a 27 year old male and pretty much just looking for advice on how I should go about exploring my sexuality. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hiya Thanks for posting, it ,must be hard to know where to start so asking others is a great idea. People explore their sexuality in lots of different ways regardless of what gender they are attracted to. You can look at going to social groups to get to know people, as well as going to clubs and apps. There is no hurry to do things, and you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. You seem at ease with being bi/curious, I hope you can stay this way, there is no hurry to know what you want or to label yourself. You can find a list of social groups in London on our website And you can find the rest of the country HEREI personally also enjoy following queer news and LGBT famous people on social media, it makes me feel involved in the community. You may want to talk things over with someone, this could be friends or family or you can always contact a support service. Switchboard is brilliant, you can all them, email or use live chat. Hope this helps Avo

Two of my female friends even said today that if I wanted they would lurk in the background on any dates I went on to make me feel more comfortable or pull me out if I got to overwhelmed. I have always been scared to admit these feelings for the same gender due to my childhood I think the reason I'm embracing it now is because I have great friends that I could open up too and feel safe telling them without dear of judgement.

Hey neptune, It's great to hear that you have a support system that will stick by you! Having a friend on standby for new dates is a great idea, it helps keep ya safe and you have backup waiting in case you decide you want to leave the date. I also wanna echo everything that Avo said - there's absolutely no timeline you need to follow in exploring your identity. I've said this on the forum before on another post, but identity can be more of a journey than a destination sometimes. And living in a digital era makes it easier to find other people who have shared experiences to you. Of course, there's forums like this! You can also find LGBTQ+ events and socials online sometimes to make connections with people in person. Really I encourage you to test the waters in whatever way makes you most comfortable! I personally like dating apps (though they have their fair share of negatives too) as a way to meet potential partners and friends - Bumble is great because you can use the friend feature OR the dating feature based on your immediate interest. I would say the biggest thing is just listening to your gut - if your instincts are telling you something is wrong, pay attention to that. And give yourself some grace! Dating or exploring your sexuality can be tricky, just take whatever steps feel most natural for you

If you live near a big down queer speed dating is starting is something to become popular, for example this looks really approachable and wholesome.

Unfortunately I live in a smallish town a friend of mine has suggested a fetish site to meet like-minded people that she met her partner on. I always thought the hardest part would be accepting myself but it feels like acting on how I feel is.
