Hi
I’ve taken that step to coming out. It’s been a long journey of questioning, going through a marriage then asexuality, then identifying as non binary, as I grappled with my churning feelings.
I think I’m too hard on myself and have always tried to please my parents and siblings, some of whom have less than positive attitudes. Well, now it’s time for me to be me.
And that’s gonna be difficult. I live in a rural town and there’s no LGBT community tht I know of. I did think ‘ok if it doesn’t exist…. Create it’ but…… I’d be starting from a weak position.
So any tips/suggestions as to how I can engage with others wld be most welcome. Tia. 🙂

Hi Perry I am pleased that you have the confidence and are in the right place to be you. It's hard living in a rural area and accessing LGBT events. It is quite common for people to travel to get to meet ups HERE is a data base of LGBT groups, you might find something near you. We also run Zoom LGBTQ and Trans and Non-binary Zoom groups, you can get info www.lgbthero.org.uk/Pages/Events/Category/upcoming-hangoutsIn regards to running your own group, if you know your community well such as where notice boards are, facebook groups, ect then you are in a good position to start something. The hard part is making sure people know about it. You have nothing to lose trying!
