I talked with my church to ask them a question about something it says in the bible about people of the same gender cant be sexually attracted to each other so I asked if that was true... My pastor said it is a sin and I probably don't actually feel that way that its what the media is trying to tell me is " acceptable and ok " when she said its not... 1. I don't watch the news. 2. I remember being 10 and wanting someone as my girlfriend but i feel so embarrassed because only some people extremely close to me know and I'm in a small town with people who like to talk. What do I do?

Hi I'm sorry it's taken someone a while to reply. I'm non-binary and gay so I am naturally going to disagree with your pastor. I think being LGBTQ is wonderful, it has meant I have met so many wonderful people and learnt so much about accepting others. However loads of people are LGBTQ and religious, there are churches just for LGBTQ people with queer leaders. Keep yourself safe and confine in people you trust. I don't know if you are in the UK but it is against the law to treat you differently due to LGBTQ identity here. You could look at the following that might reassure you - www.refinery29.com/en-us/2020/06/9853560/where-is-pastor-noah-from-queer-eye-nowwww.theproudtrust.org/young-people/faith-and-religion/lgbt-faith-groups/ (trigger warning for suicide) Also please reach out to organisations like switchboard.lgbt if you need support. All the best Avo

(The documentary is about families in America who accept their queer kids after struggling to come to terms with it due to christianity)

Sometimes I think that religion is overrated... Faith comes from the heart.. Remember that no where in Christianity does it say, "come to me... BUT only if you are this way or that way.." Try being yourself first..
