The other day I posted that I was going to attend an event called An Audience with Elliot Page. Well, I thought that I'd give you an update.
When I first heard about the event that was going to be held at The Southbank Hall on Thursday night I immediately took the chance to book when the time became available, and I thought I might share with you all what the show An Audience with Elliot Page was like.
I arrived at the Hall and presented my ticket, which also included a pre-ordered signed copy of the book and I waited along with everyone else in the reception area until we were called into the theartre to take our seats.
Then onto the stage walked the show's host Shon Faye with Elliot right with him, smiling and waving and the whole audience erupted into applause.
They took their seats and at that point the conversation began.
For a whole hour the two discussed in detail the book and the events of his life, and it was genuinely fascinating actually watching him talk about his life.
UNFORTUNATELY we were asked right at the very start not to take any photos or video clips, which I admit was quite disappointing. However, it did provide a personal, almost intimate feel to the venue, which was nice in its own way.
At times it was quite serious, sometimes sad, and occasionally quite funny, but it was an entertaining evening for the whole audience. Having only ever seen him in conversation in video clips on Youtube and the like it seemed strange seeing him right in front of me just the same.
Towards the end there was a Q & A with questions from the audience that had been submitted by email weeks ago.
To my genuine surprise, one of the questions was actually MY OWN, which I didn’t expect but really quite pleased me,and I enjoyed hearing him answer it with sincerity.
At the end the audience gave him a standing ovation, to which he seemed quite thankful before both of them left the stage.
It was, all in all, a really quite good evening. I won’t forget it at all.
