Having a support network. Some of the worst times in my life have been when I felt I didn’t have someone to talk to and understand my problems.
Accepting yourself and being happy being you. I think this is very important. Not being able to accept who we are, thinking there is something wrong with us because we are not like the cis-hetro “normal” society/media portrays puts us at risk.

Hi welsh, I agree with you having a support network is very important. Sometimes people think they do no have this but writing this down i.e. names, places and helplines you can contact will be very useful. LGBT HERO has a free download here >> www.lgbthero.org.uk/making-a-safety-plan-suicideTo reduce risk it is always important to reach out and talk to someone. For anyone thinking about ending your life or acting on thoughts of suicide please call 999 (or 112 if you live outside of the UK) immediately and ask for an ambulance. There will be no judgement, only people who want to help you. Thanks for your reply
